Crusader Safaris has a great bow hunting reputation. Success rates of 85% on Kudu and good opportunities on the other species will leave you in the knowledge that all animals are hunted ethically and free range in large areas.
Free Range Bow Hunting in South Africa
The bow hunting season in all 3 areas runs from May through to October and is a mixture of blind and walk and stalk hunting where you can expect shots of 15 to 50 yards.
Free range, fair chase bowhunting in South Africa with Crusader Safaris is a challenging and rewarding hunt. As all our areas are unfenced we cannot control the food, water and natural movement of the animals, making it a real hunt.
Our bow hunts are a mixture of blind and walk and stalk hunting. Generally, the mornings will be spent on foot and the evenings in a strategically placed blind on food or water. Expect shots of 15 to 50 yards and all scent lock, camo and bow hunting accessories are beneficial.
As animals move naturally and we cannot control the food and water a combination of bow and rifle makes for a great hunt. This allows you the option of hunting some species with a rifle and others with a bow. This combination allows you to see more of the area and experience hunting all species. Depending on your priority species we will advise on the weapon of choice. Kudu, Warthog, Bushbuck, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Lechwe, Baboon, Bushpig, Impala, Mountain Reedbuck and Nyala are all species that make for a good mix between blind and walk and stalk bow hunting.
The bow hunting season in all 3 areas runs from May through to October when food and water are hard to come by and the animals are more concentrated, we need these conditions for a successful african hunting safari. Due to the nature of the areas and the challenge of free range bow hunting 6 animals in 10 days would be considered a success. You can expect 85% success on Kudu and good opportunities on all other species leaving Crusader Safaris confident in the knowledge that all animals were hunted ethically.
Muzzle Loader
Muzzle loader hunters are welcome and the challenge of hunting with a traditional weapon is something we enjoy. With patient stalking and good hunting skill, most shots will be between 50 and 100 yards. Getting a muzzle loader into South Africa is no problem. We are registered to buy and possess black powder in South Africa. The powder available is different from that in the US so bringing your own is advisable.
