The Umkomaas conservancy and the Baviaansriver conservancy are two large free range areas on the eastern side of South Africa that produce top-quality free-range hunting in South Africa. Crusader Safaris owns huge blocks of land in these areas. We have our own authentic camps and lease agreements giving us exclusive access to these large free range areas, great hunting for indigenous animals and the excellent trophy quality that this free range hunting produces.
Most hunters grow up hunting in the US and often get the opportunity to hunt Canada. The great open spaces and hunting in the west and midwest, the wild free range Whitetail deer and Mule Deer in Alberta and Saskatchewan. These wild, free-range areas offer some of the greatest hunting available today, sometimes tough due to weather and terrain, always a challenge and always very rewarding.
We often get asked, ‘how Crusader Safaris manages to secure such good free range areas and how this compares to other wilderness areas in Southern Africa’, it’s good to draw from 10 years guiding experience in Alberta to set hunters expectations.
South Africa is a third world country but has some really important first world elements. In the world we live in today this is becoming more and more important. The security of knowing you are hunting real free range animals, out of authentic African camps in large conservancies while never being more than a hour away from the best first world medical facilities, offers great peace of mind in the unlikely event that they are needed.
The challenge we set ourselves and have achieved is to offer a great hunting experience. An experience similar to a midwest Elk or Mule deer hunt or an Alberta Whitetail hunt in a huge free-range environment, a remote rural real hunt but always being close to these first world elements. Great infrastructure, airports, restaurants, economic and medical.
When you as a hunter look to compare the areas Crusader Safaris has and the experience to be expected the best comparison, we have used over the years is a wild midwest Elk or Mule deer hunt. This is not wilderness country, it is however wild free-range country, the animals are indigenous and the hunt very rewarding. There is the odd three-strand cattle fence from times gone by. The land is privately owned, mostly by Crusader Safaris and this gives us the security to know we can plan and work towards long term goals. Year by year with the support of international hunters, these goals are achieved, and every year the areas are better. For your next real hunt for indigenous animals in huge free-range conservancies
